Privacy Policy

1. At-a-Glance Summary

Apoca LE is a location-based mobile game published by Momatan Studios ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect when you play the game, how we use it, and the rights you have. We collect only what is necessary to run the game and protect players, and we do not sell personal data.

• Location: We use your device's GPS to place your starship on the map. Coordinates are processed in memory and are not stored as a long-term location history.
• Account: When you sign in with Apple, we store an Apple-supplied user identifier and an optional email relay. We never see your real Apple password.
• Purchases: Apple processes payments. We receive a receipt that we use to grant Elite Coins to your account.
• Tracking: We do not use third-party advertising trackers, and we do not share data with data brokers.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Account identifiers: Apple user ID, optional email (often a private Apple relay address), and the display name you choose for your pilot.
• Pilot content: Faction selection, ship nicknames, building placements, and other gameplay choices you save.
• Reports and blocks: When you report or block another player, we record the action and the reason you provide.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Precise location: Latitude, longitude, and heading from your device's GPS. See Section 4.
• Gameplay state: Encounters, combat outcomes, resources, blueprints, quests, and other game progress required to keep your account synced across sessions.
• Device & technical data: Operating system version, app version, language, and approximate timezone. Used for compatibility, fraud prevention, and debugging.
• Server logs: Request timestamps and IP address are written to short-lived server logs for security, abuse investigation, and debugging.

2.3 Information from Third Parties

• Sign in with Apple: When you authenticate, Apple provides a stable user identifier and optionally an email relay. We do not receive your full Apple ID profile.
• App Store receipts: When you make an in-app purchase, Apple sends a signed receipt that we validate to grant Elite Coins.

3. How We Use Information

• Place your starship on the in-game map and project nearby celestial bodies relative to your real-world position.
• Authenticate you, sync your progress across sessions, and restore your purchases.
• Match you with PvP encounters, faction events, and territory features that depend on real-world geography.
• Detect cheating, exploits, and abusive behavior, and enforce our Terms of Service.
• Process and respond to player reports and block requests.
• Operate, maintain, debug, and improve the game.
• Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities.

4. Location Data

Apoca LE is a GPS-based game. The game cannot function without precise location, and gameplay actions are continuously driven by your real-world position while you play.

• We request foreground (when-in-use) location access at minimum. To support persistent territory tracking and movement-based gameplay, the app may also request "Always" / background location access; iOS will display a separate system prompt for that permission and you may grant or deny it independently.
• Whenever the app is running and you have granted location access, your device samples its precise GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude, accuracy, heading, and speed) and sends position updates to our servers so we can validate gameplay actions, render nearby points of interest, drive territory control, and detect movement-based events. Updates may continue while the app is in the background if you have granted background location permission, until you close the app or revoke permission.
• We retain recent gameplay-related coordinates for as long as needed to operate the game (for example, to verify scans, raids, building placement, and anti-spoofing checks) and aggregate them with your account. We do not sell location data, and we do not share your live location with other players.
• You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. The game will be unplayable while location access is denied.

5. In-App Purchases

Elite Coins are a virtual in-game currency sold in non-renewing consumable packs through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your card or payment-method details. We receive only a signed receipt containing the product identifier and transaction identifier, which we validate before crediting your account. Elite Coins have no monetary value, cannot be transferred between accounts, and are not refundable except as required by law or Apple's policies.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information. We share information only as described below:

• Service providers: Hosting (Replit), database, and email-relay providers process data on our behalf under contractual confidentiality and security obligations.
• Apple: Authentication and payments are processed by Apple under Apple's privacy terms.
• Other players (limited): Your pilot display name, faction, and gameplay activity (kills, territory, raids) may be visible to other players in shared game surfaces such as the map, leaderboards, kill feeds, and raid history. Your real-world location is never shown to other players.
• Legal & safety: We may disclose information when required by law, when responding to lawful requests, or when necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of players or the public.
• Business transfer: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred subject to the same protections in this policy.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

We keep account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account from inside the app: open Profile, then tap "Delete Account". Deletion removes your pilot, ships, buildings, resources, reports filed by you, and personal identifiers within 30 days. Anonymous, aggregate, or backup data may be retained for limited periods for security, accounting, and legal compliance, but cannot be linked back to you.

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards including encrypted transport (HTTPS), hashed credentials, server-side validation of game-affecting actions, rate limiting, and access controls on production systems. No service can guarantee perfect security; you are responsible for keeping your device and Apple ID secure.

9. Children's Privacy

Apoca LE is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at privacy@playapoca.app and we will delete the account.

10. Regional Rights

10.1 European Economic Area & United Kingdom

If you are located in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, port, and object to processing of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Our legal basis is performance of the user agreement (account, gameplay), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention), consent (location, optional features), and legal obligations.

10.2 California (CCPA / CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, correct inaccurate information, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

10.3 How to Exercise Your Rights

Submit requests to privacy@playapoca.app. We will verify your identity using your Apple sign-in identifier and respond within the time required by applicable law.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app and the "Effective Date" above will be updated. Continued use of the game after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
